Northrup Grumman
As CD/Copywriter, developed story arc, character voices, plot details and scripting for this retro-inspired, AI-driven recruiting game. If you can solve the world’s most perplexing anomalies, you’re right for NG. Play Deviation.ai to find out. Developed with Publicis SapientRazorfish.
A deceptively simple interface leads players through a set of four assignments, increasingly complex at each level. Assignment 1: The Signal. Assignment 2: Sunken Melody. Assignment 3: Atmospheric Anomaly Assignment 4: Frozen Echoes. Collaborate with colleagues, download briefing materials (below), and persevere through cliffhangers to piece together mysteries from ghost satellites to quantum portals.
Coffee breaks give players a chance to banter with the cast of coworker characters and tease out clues off the clock.
To keep plot points organized along the way, I created and managed an extensive content map. Character backstories and roles were hyper-intentional. FigJam was a quick, flexible reference spot and playground.
Narration and dialogue were carefully crafted to provide just enough detail to move players forward. An incredible group collaborated to breathe life into this ambitious project, including a consulting math, science and engineering professor to validate scientific plausibility, and a brilliant, creative internal team including game architect, creative technologist, producer, art director, copywriter, CD, ECD, account directors. My role was to focus on the story and characters.
When a player seems unsure of how to move forward, responses get more directive, but never give anything away. Each assignment can take hours. Game play can take days, and although the premise if fictional, those who crack it get flagged to Northrup Grumman as strong candidates. Set up at college recruitment fairs and shared online.
